Hi,

I am currently banned from driving in Canada for 1 year (currently living in Canada with a Canadian Passport). I also have a British Passport and will be moving to the UK in the next month. Can I apply for my UK drivers licence, or does a driving ban in Canada affect this?

Also, if I traded my canadian licence for a UK one through the D1 form, and then my Canadian Licence was banned because of a court decision, would my UK licence be affected? Do Canadian and UK driving offices communicate?

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for your message.

At present there is no mutual recognition of driving disqualifications between the UK and Canada.

Therefore the disqualification imposed by a Canadian Court should not affect your ability to apply for driving license in the UK.
