I was stopped on a private road after being followed for about half a mile. I was breathalised and taken to the police station. Breathalised again - similar reading.
It was on a friday night after what had been a dreadful week, I had early starts and late finishes all week, finishing a building project. That particular day, I had not eaten, nor slept well the night before.
This is my first offence (and my last!) I have a clean driving licence and am self employed. I have to be able to drive my van to and from work, it contains my livelyhood and my future. I must add that I am full of remorse, and regret what I did in that moment of stupidity.
I am due in court next month (May) - what can I expect and should I seek independent legal advice and not reply on the duty solicitor?

I think enquiries need to be made in order to establish whether or not the road in question is public or private prior to your hearing date.

Any sentence, assuming that you pleading guilty or were convicted, would be dependant on your breath reading. In view of a reading of 100 the Court are likely to consider the imposition of a Community order and a disqualification of between 23 - 28 months.

I would advise you to be represented by a specialist road traffic solicitor, who will be the solicitor of your choice. Whilst the duty solicitor scheme is free, you will not be able to see him/her prior to the hearing date, have no element of choice, and no guarantee about how much time the duty solicitor can spend with you before going into court. If the duty solicitor is busy then your time with him/her will be limited.

Hi and thank you for your prompt reply.
After looking again at my print out again from the police station, I should add that the correct reading is 84 and not 100 - will this make any difference?
