Will a driving test need to be retaken after being disqualified?

I will try and cut a long story short. I'm looking for advice on behalf of my partner. He was disqualified from driving for drink driving around 15 years ago, it had ended a couple of years later but he never reapplied to have his licence back. However he is now looking into reapplying, he will need to have the medical even after all this time as gone bit this isn't a problem as he hasn't drank in over a year. But does anyone know if after the medical he would have his licence re issued or would he have to retake a driving test and go through the theory and lessons?

After a ban has ended, even after a 15 year gap, he will get the same licence as he had before, for the same categories and the same status. i.e. if it was a full one before, he will get a full one back.
